Surprisingly good
By AJH
This is an interesting and well written autobiography. Some people have packed a lot into their lives and this author is one of them. I found his thoughts about a number of situations in which he participated to be insightful and coherent. Recommended as a much better than average read for books of this type.

An amazing read and well worth the time
By Amazon Customer
I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into with this book but after a slow start it is a stunning read of an extraordinary life. While I am a history buff there were conflicts that I had very little details about and this account of several of them, especially the Ireland conflict, has made me want to know more.

Well worth it.

An unbelievable story of pure will and hard core courage !
By Edward of Washington
McCallion ran the gauntlet of severe military training, war and police work in some of the most god forsaken locations in the world! He survived to write about it. Reading this autobiography makes you wonder how any human could have survived so much violence and still be sane! I guess only he knows for sure!
